Creating Small Blade Aerials

Post by JamesPerrin »

Trying to glue tiny bits of card on a model to represent blade aerials is often just asking for trouble and especially if they are carrying wires, something more robust is needed. I came up with this idea while working on a 1/144 Canberra.

I found some thin wire that is soft enough to flatten with smooth face pliers. When this is cleaned up and trimmed this creates a small blade aerial with a handy locating pin. For larger aerials thick fuse wire may be more appropriate.

Then simply drill a 0.5mm hole and voila!
