Vallejo Model air & Klear

Post by SteveC »

Hello All,

I recently finished the Airfix Hawker P.1127 using Vallejo Model Air Chrome. It looked fine at first, but still seemed to show every blemish and fingerprint when I handled it, even after drying overnight. In an attempt to protect it I tried to brush on a coat of Klear, but this just ran off or pooled on the surface.

Would it have helped if I had sprayed the Klear, and if so what would I use to clean the airbrush out with afterwards?

I have posted a couple of picture of the finished model in my Workbench Window.

Thanks,

Steve

I've been using Vallejo varnishes to finish the models Steve, they spray well and clean up just like the Vallejo paints, which is all I put through my Airbrush.

You can clean up Kleer with an ammonia based window cleaning fluid (windex), however, you must flush a load of clean water through the airbrush afterwards, because ammonia attacks brass.

Cheers

Thanks Andrew,

Do you use the standard Vallejo varnishes or the Vallejo Air version?

I get them from the Vallejo Air rack at the shop, but I have a feeling they are the same!
