Nose Weight - best way to secure

Post by bilby1968 »

In the process of building an Intruder and it will need nose weight to stop it being a tail dragger.

I have seen someone use white glue with the weight sunk into it and this seems a good solution but need some guidance on this vexing issues

What is the best way to secure nose weight in modern day jet aircraft?

Thanks

Dave

I use blu tack and stick nuts onto it, there is also now this stuff called Liquid Gravity which can also act as ballast. Some guys also use fishing weights.

I use car wheel balancing weights. Free when you get your tyre changed.
I'm a mostly full-time modeller put a part-time poster....

Split shot or ball bearings mixed in with Milliput grey (which as well as holding everything in place also adds weight).

If you use a putty, or maybe just force-fit, you are pretty safe.

If you hold your weights with anything like a liguid/gel that can possibly run while curing, be very sure it cannot run out some hole onto the surface, or glue your model to the bench, that sort of thing .... I find it best to build up in shallow layers and not possibly find the glue went crazy and melted half the kit in the process.

+1 Me too...

Also... I picked up half a dozen of those card-blister packs of watch-batteries (about 50 per pack) when I saw them at 3 for £1 in a bargain-bin a few months back. A few of those, packed in with blu-tack do a pretty good job.
Currently on bench: ICM 1/72 Tupolev Tu-2
