Cradle
Re: Cradle
Hi Toby. Look around the Workbench threads and you will find some of the best are made out using Lego's. Inexpensive, changable and I think available around the world.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale
Re: Cradle
Yes, Lego is great for making custom cradles. Or use an appropriately sized kit box top or bottom, and rest wings and/or tail on the edges - which is one of the reasons I always prefer top opening boxes

Re: Cradle
I'm a big proponent of Legos but for the most part I only use them with larger models like bombers. I haven't had much need on 1/72 fighters

Thanks guys. I've never been a fan of Lego but perhaps it's time I got some.

I agree, Lego is the way to go, I use it a lot. Plus modelling makes a good reason to have it around for a relaxing play.. I mean construction project!!.
Lego's only fault for me is that it can't give precision below a certain distance/size but usually there are enough brick sizes in a tub to manage quite well.

Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Re: Cradle
That's why you have lots of shim material around -- get it close with standard Legos, then use scraps to shim the last bit. One of my favorites is cocktail sticks, they act like a wedge to get that last little bit of angle, gap, alignment .... A little tape to hold the shims in place and Bob's your uncle ....MarkyM607 wrote:I agree, Lego is the way to go, I use it a lot. It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.
