Making progress with the Skybirds 86 Hunter now, and there are definitely going to be some gaps to fill and rough areas to smooth. What do I use for filler on a resin kit? I assume that regular Humbrol filler won't "take" on the resin like it does on styrene. I could make up some Milliput, but I'm not sure how well it works as a "skim". So if anyone who has experience of the matter would care to shed some light, I'd be very grateful...
bestest,
M

Re: Filler for resin kits?
I haven't built a full resin only kit, just put resin parts on models.
I use mainly two fillers; if its obvious the parts will need fillers at the joint then I use two-part resin glue, both as a glue and filler. For touching up afterwards or filling pinhole I use Humbrol fillers. The solvent in it helps. Resin is still a plastic so Humbrol sticks to it well. For really big gaps I use plastic soup.
Green/White stuff by Squadron aren't so good. Ok for pinholes but not joints.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Milliput or any other two part filler and super glue (CA) all work well on resin kits...
Please critique my posts honestly i.e. say what you think so I can learn and improve...

I've used Tamiya Basic Putty with great success; or I use CA.

Green stuff and standard milliput. I've never felt I required the super fine version of the latter, which I've heard is maybe not as robust.

Hello James & Matt,
Alley Cat instructions for the Javelin conversions state avoid using styrene fillers such as "Green Stuff" they advise using Super Glue or Milliput as better fillers with resin products.
