What is the best way to clean old model kits , they have fly spots and dust on them....mild soapy water? What about the decals?

If you have sealed them they should be OK 8-)
If not use a soft, fluffy make-up brush (don't tell the wife) :ha:
All models are equal. Some models are more equal than others.

I use a blower brush - the kind you use to clean lenses.
Don't know how much they cost these days, but I shouldn't think they're expensive.
(I've had a bunch of them for years thanks to other hobbies)

Also occasionally blow dust off with clean air through an airbrush for really delicate bits such as rigging/aerials etc.

edited to add:
A quick google and.... they still only cost a coupla quid.
