Hataka Red - water or alcohol thinner?

Post by DavidWomby »

Before I mess up, I thought I'd ask before trying them in the airbrush. They are definitely too thick out of the bottle to use without thinning despite what the labeling says!

I can't get Hataka thinner. In fact I can't get any thinner locally except Testors for acrylics. I use Testors thinner or water for Modelmaster and Vallejo paints and Isopropyl alacohol for Tamiya or Gunze Aqueous. Which is right for Hataka Red Line? I suspect it's water but wondered if anyone can confirm, please?

Thanks.

Hi David, I can't give you a definitive answer on using water however I just had a look at my bottle of their acrylic thinners to check the ingredients and nothing is listed. Not much use I know but it does have a slightly chemical smell to it.
Prior to getting my bottle I did use Tamyia X20 with no real adverse effects, always best to try on a mule first though.

I must admit to selling off the half dozen sets I had and have been replacing them with their Orange line Laquer ones when I can.
