Painting/masking jet intake trunking - any suggestions?

I am wondering if there's a better way to paint something like this.

Image

Normally I paint the inside of the intake before assembly, then stuff the opening with something when I paint the exterior. It's usually OK but sometimes needs some brush touch up on the inside of the intake near the lip which can be hard to reach.

How do you deal with painting intakes, please?

Hi,

If its a one piece intake, I'd paint the inside first then cut a thin piece of Tamiya tape (say 1mm) and place it inside to mask the demarcation. A thin piece is easier to handle and place around the curved surface. Rub it down with something like a cocktail stick then cut another piece of tape (slightly bigger) and overlap behind the first piece for a bit more coverage. Then stuff something inside to protect the rest of the intake.

Hope it helps.

Thanks, Stu. Sounds an improvement on my (lack of) technique!
