Can Humbrol Enamel Varnish be used over Acrylic Paint? I have been doing a lot with Acrylic paint recently and wondered if I could spray Acrylic once it is completely dry as a I have a surplus of Enamel Varnish, that I don't want to waste. I have used enamel washes over acrylic to weather my models for some time so I presume its not going to cause the paint to bubble up in a few weeks?

The simplest answer to say test it. Paint up an abandoned project or some other scrap of plastic.

Generally Enamel over acrylic should be fine. Some people have reported issues with acrylic over enamel though I never have. I would though leave the acrylic a few days to fully dry. It may seem dry but depending on the thickness the paint can still be curing under the surface.

I say its fine to do it, but I'd advise you to dump the enamel varnish.
Humbrol enamel varnish is notorious for turning yellow, sometimes rather quickly

Thanks for your advice, and seeing as Enamel varnish might turn yellow I will only try it out on German Panzers! What I have used it for is spraying the area where the decals will go and then spraying when the decals are dry with matt varnish.
