Colour shapers for masking canopies

Post by T-21 »

In the latest SAMI How-to series Migrant describes masking canopies with Parafilm. He uses Royal Sovereign colour shapers (paint brush with silicone tips) to burnish the tape down into corners and rails. I looked at the price they range from £3 up to £6 way too expensive . I found a good alternative at The Works a packet of 4 different tips for £2.99 ref 120710WK made by Farrel & Gold . Hope this helps fellow modellers looking for these type of tool.

I have a cheaper alternative - when a paintbrush has ended its useful life, snap off the paint end and then use a pencil sharpener or knife to make it into a point. Use that point to press into the edges and corners.
I'm a mostly full-time modeller put a part-time poster....

Ian, Thats a great idea . I prefer to use the wooden ends of a flattened cocktail stick to remove masking material although the used brush would be useful for this.

I use old handles for fill applications. Just bevel the end and you are good to go.

Look on EBay, Eric, there are several vendors who will sell you a reasonable quantity. I just got some from the UK myself, as the sources in Canada and the US wanted me to buy an entire box of the stuff

Cheers
