Painting polythene figures (Airfix 1/32)

Post by mattbacon »

Hi, all... I need to paint up a few of the soft plastic Airfix 1/32 Napoleonic figures. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to prime them to get the paint to stick? I'm sure I've heard that a coat of thinned white PVA glue helps, but I was wondering what today's "state of the art" recommendation is? ANy help would be much appreciated!

bestest,
M.

Good question Matt, I've always gone for the 'Dipped in a thin PVA mix, watered down' method, which works OK, but let's hope someone here comes up with something better!

my Zulus I did some time ogo were soft plastic too. For preparation I brushed them with a so called silicon remover.

like this: Image

a quick search showd this up: http://www.keep-your-car.com/Kluthe-silicone-remover-1L;

Available here at stores like Obi (a DiY store) and also at shops selling car laquer.

you just brush it on and let it dry for half an hour or so.

Worked pretty well for me.

EDIT: ah and as base I used Revell Aqua base white, this one
