Try pushing the pot into a big blob of blutak on your desk, hold it steady and use a flat blade screwdriver to prise the lid off. I find the lids not easy to open so I use a small flat blade screwdiver to prise the lids up.
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

i used a pair of scissors to prise the lid open but all it did was lift the lip not the actual lid, plus the scissors went into my hand. how would blutac help??

do i buy separate acrylic paint, the ones with the screw caps which would be easier for me or shouldn't i get those because the paint already comes with beginners model, its impossible to open the lid of the paint pots. i have tried the blutac idea, doesnt work. my hand isn't strong enough to hold the pot aswel as trying to open the lid. i have tried a flat blade screwdriver to open the lid but it wont, and i dont want to force it too much in case the pot flies off somewhere with paint all over myself.

The tiny pots are difficult enough for able bodied. Get the screw top acrylics, there is no point get frustrated and injured!

You can order them directly from Humbrol themselves http://www.humbrol.com/; and the names and numbers are the same.

You can get them from amazon.co.uk too, normally at a good price.

Have you looked into the snap together kits yet?

I use xtracrylic paints and they are very easy to open. They are available from Hannants and are available in the same shades you need for the Spitfire.

Hope this helps.

All the best.
