Hi folks,
Any ideas for the best Humbrol acrylic colour for a Zero? I've had a look, and ordered Malachite Green...... but I'm not sure if that's a good match
Cheers,
Jim

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Hi iggie
I'm not sure which shade of green you need. It depends whether you're making a Japanese army or navy aircraft.
Tamiya produce the correct shades in acrylic paints and they spray very nicely.
However, if you brush paint then enamels are preferable. The equivalent colours are:
Tamiya XF-11 (Japanese Navy Green) = Humbrol 75 (Matt Bronze Green)
Tamiya XF-13 (Japanese Army Green) = Humbrol 116 (US Dark Green)
Hope this helps

Thank you for that; I think I have both of those in stock....it's about time I addressed the fact that I have never built a Japanese aircraft...
Best wishes

Yep, I'll second that.Dazzled wrote: Tamiya XF-11 (Japanese Navy Green) = Humbrol 75 (Matt Bronze Green)
When I was exclusively an enamel brush-painter, I always used Hu75 Bronze Green for Japanese Navy planes.
Side-by-side it's hard to tell the colour difference between my old brushed Hu75 Val, and a newer sprayed XF-11 Zero
