If you have a branch of The Works bargain bookshop near you, you can get these - a 20x30cm corkboard for 99p and a 30x40 one for £2.99.
Slap a bit of polyfilla on and a coat of paint, flock, sand etc and bingo - an excellent, cheap way of basing models or dioramas...
