In my shed is a chest freezer upon which, stands a large wooden rack. This rack is full of model Mosquitos. They were started by Bobcatfish and had been left in cardboard boxes when he started his 1/48th collection of Post War aircraft, which is a very ambitious project. Bob has done a fantastic job and has what must be one of the best around. Every model is finished to superb standards. He is currently working on the Prop Jobs. Just as well he has a large spare room.

Anyway, I have decided to try and complete the 1/72nd Mosquitos. I reckon that there will be around 20+ when they are done.

OMG! What a collection. Well done taking on finishing them. That will be a stunning display when they are all done. I hope you have all the parts!!!!

I'm glad you showed us this!! It's wonderful.
Opens a new window, in my mind, of just how deep a modeller can go. The heck with having just one model hidden in a shoebox. Well done!

The rack is an excellent way to store them!

Oh my word! That is indeed a great project and judging by the quality of those builds - they need to be finished.

Sorry, I have to ask. Who is Bobcatfish? - I've heard the name before but it's not somebody I've come across on line.

Bob pops up on the forum from time to time.

Here's one of Bob's Harriers. These are the 1/24th models. Based on the Airfix Sea Harrier FRS1 and Harrier GR1 / 3. The FRS2 is converted from the FRS1 which means quite a lot of major surgery.

I have dozens of decal sheets for 1/72nd Mossies, but hardly a red Do Not Walk decal anywhere.

I tried this method on the PR last night and, with a couple of refinements, I reckon it will do. I used a simple mapping pen for this, but I will see if I can find a fine red marker in the art shop, or at Sword & Lance 2016, this weekend. Didn't Tamiya do Paint Pens?

I have found a suitable red acrylic and will try thinning the paint and tip of the pen. ( I have removed the exhaust stubs and will source some more accurate ones. I could try casting some of my own.

That looks good. I like the templates idea. FYI I have done similar markings a couple of ways: strips of red decal and printing them using an inkjet printer.

Thanks for sharing this Chuck. I love those racks. I work in I.T. and occasionally we throw out old 19" racks but you have given me an idea now. The only problem is how to sneak a 2 metre tall comms rack past the wife!

Have you considered printing those red do not walk markers on clear decal paper?

Not much luck with clear decal with any printer that I have access to. I tried to print PRU with the stripes already on. Still a problem. Still working on it though.

I know what you mean, I only ever do it as a last resort. I have found a set of Mosquito decals in the stash which includes the walk markers which you are welcome to. I will have a go at printing a few off too if I can find my decal paper. We just got a new laser printer which I was going to try out for decal making.

I would be interested how you get on with that O,T. Let me know how it goes.
