Revell 1/72 Messerschmitt Me262B-1/U1 Nightfighter
I enjoyed building this kit as there were no dramas with it, maybe a bit of putty around the wing roots and engine nacelles but that was about it.
Cockpit detail for me was more than adequate but then I am not a super detailer so all I added were the Tamiya tape seat belts.
Make sure you use enough nose weight or else you are going to have a tail sitter, Revell suggests 20gms I used 30 grams of flattened 177 air pistol pellets which seemed about right.
I sprayed the model first with RLM76 then I used a thin brush and some highly thinned RLM 75 to paint the squiggles in a random pattern over the relevent areas of the kit.
Once I was happy with this I then over sprayed the pattern with some very highly thinned RLM 76 over the top, say 20/80 paint to thinners.

Mark

Very very nice. I have had this same kit on hold for the better part of a year now because I lost the radar antennas. I might have to break down and buy another PE set for it just for the antennas. The good thing If I do is that I have several other 262's that I could use the rest of the PE on.

Again, an impressive achievment!
With etched Lichtenstein direction finding antennas it would be a masterpiece.

That looks great Mark...and it's good to have your distinctive images back on the Forum.
Is that kit of Heller origin, perchance?

Bruce

I was really surprised to read that you applied the squiggles with a paintbrush. They look airbrushed on. Excellent paintjob.

Re: Revell 1/72 Messerschmitt Me262B-1/U1 Nightfighter
Thanks Bruce and it's great to be back.
This kit was a new mould for Revell and considering the single seat parts included in the kit I would of thought it's main parts would be shared with the Revell Me262 A-1 kit which would make sense.
Recessed panel lines and a nicely detailed cockpit would easily dismiss the Heller conection I would have thought, but then again I have been wrong about such things before...

It's Revell's own tooling and owes nothing to the Heller kit.

Probably down to the fact that there are few well documented schemes to choose from. I think the same one crops up in the Hasegawa kit.Brews wrote:... although it does share the familiar markings of the Heller kit.
