Thanks for that. I think I'll pass on that. I'm experimenting with a range of materials; flattened solder seems a possibility, especially as the pliers leave a woven effect. Otherwise I've been playing about with flattened out picture hanging wire. Again, it has a woven effect.

I was getting my pills out last night and suddenly realised that the foil packs may suffice as a source for the braiding: it even has a texture that gives something of a braid effect.

It's hellishly difficult to cut in the requisite parallel narrow strips and I don't know how well it will take paint, but I've given it a go and mocked up one of the lames I've recently been playing with (Blu-Tacked, so rather messy). The pics also show the suspension from the main armour to the tassets.

I'm unsure whether this is the best way and I think I favour the moulded method, but at the moment it's 'all ports in a storm' (to misquote).

Still hunting for my solder... I know I had some somewhere!
