Fujimi F-14A Tomcat 1/72 from VF-33 "The starfighters" DONE

Post by Navy one »

I started the kit about a week ago most of the fuselage is together as are the intake, engine nacelle's.
I added a floor in the intakes because there is a locator tab in the intake, quite visible from the front.
Most of the time sofar I spent on the cockpit.
First airbrushed it with Gunze H317 and then masked the intrument panels and sprayed them with Tamiya XF-1.
Then I dry brushed it with white and added the details like the buttons and screens and such.
here is the evolution from start to finish.

Image

here I did all butons and screens with silver.

Image

then I added clear green, clear red and clear blue.

Image

Red and yellow buttons where added.

And installed as completed cockpit.

Excellent start Nav1; if the rest follows suit, you're going to have a stunner on your hands!
Best wishes

Nice work so far. Will you be displaying with an open canopy?

Careful with the little winglets that come out of the wing gloves. I found the gaps around those things to be a real bear to fill. Maybe it was just my carelessness when I attempted the kit, but they detailed the project.

Made some progress the last few days.
Fuselage is completed, the weapons are done and painted.
Wheels are ready, these are the vinyl tires.
I am working on the 2 pilot figures now , but this is slow.

Finally finished, it took a little while longer than expected but I am satisfied with the result.

The mighty F-14A Tomcat, VF-33 "the Starfighters" early 1980's, aboard the USS America with sister squadron VF-102 "the Diamondbacks".
