A common load in the early years that seems to have disappeared in recent years was 8 iron bombs under the fuselage like this.

Another popular and common load that went out of vogue post-DESERT STORM was the fuselage-mounted JP233 area denial pod which you can get from Flightpath in 1/32 or the German equivalent, the MW-1, that comes in the earlier Revell 1/32 Tornadoes...I think Paragon did JP223 pods in resin in 1/48 and 1/72...
Please critique my posts honestly i.e. say what you think so I can learn and improve...

Re: Tornado Gr1 Ordernance
the Sea-Eagles were only equipped to Gr1B squadrons as this required specific wiring, a bit like Alarm ( on IX Sqn) and it wasn't until the gr4 programme that provided universal wiring for the whole fleet, making it compatible to fly with everything, so depending on which squadron you are planning to build will depend on the load, as each squadron had a specific role, so 12, 617 were converted o Gr1b standard so Sea Eagles, before that 27 sqn was a dedicated JP233 sqn,(27 sqn became 12 in 1994) after the gulf war all jets were wired to be able to carry TIALD and so carried Paveways, so you have quite an array of weaponry to choose from...if u upgrade to gr4, and decide to carry stormshadow or brimstone the colour scheme of the jet will have to be around 2004/5 as Brimstone was accepted by 31 sqn in 2005, they did the work up before that weapon was sent to the rest of the fleet...
The other thing to bear in mind for grey and green gr1s is that they all had squadron codes, the recces sqns had single letters, ix was A ( so all codes AA,AB etc) 14 were B, 17 were C,31 were D 15 were E , 16 was F and 20 was G, 617 was M originally, they became AJ- in 1994 for the 50th anniversary, 27 sqn were J ( 12 became F once 27 disbanded, 16 became jags)
The weapon they all had in common is the WE177 air launched nuclear weapon...and the JP233..
JP233s come in the 617sqn boxing of the hasegawa kit...
