from "Giulio's Veranda", workbench section , page 53:

"..........You can title the patchiness "How to obtain a good effect when you think that all goes wrong".

The Story:
- Take a look at about 20 pictures of SLAF's Mig27
- Put on your work bench all the grey paint you have.
- Begin to sing the ancient magic formula that ends: "I like that!" (touchin every single paint with your right index finger)
- Of course you have chosen the paint older that you have, about 12 years old.
- You notice the "aging" after you spent 30 minutes shakin' the paint (Who said that modelers do not exercise?)
- You are an optimist and you try the same, spray paint and wait eight hours confident
- tic tac tic tic tic tac tic tac (special effect, passing time)
- The result is a rough crap. Try to recall everything with sandpaper used wet and a coat of wax.
- tic tac tic tic tic tac tic tac (special effect, passing time)
- Not bad! If I had tried to get this patchiness, I could not do so well.
- DA DA....DAN DAN! (special effect, coup de théâtre)
- while you apply decals, spill an half cup of tea on half model, try clean the tea with a large brush and the water you are using for the decals, let dry.
- Meanwhile, everything dries, look at your Buddha and meditate: I throw away the model or not?
- Dry.
Discontinue your meditation.
You look at it carefully.
It does not interfere with your Zen mood, indeed, you like it.
- second coat of wax.

Do you believe or not, it's the truth!

Regards."

That looks very realistic, Giulio, but I think I will not try the 'cup of tea' technique. :)

The Tea Weathering technique? Hmmm, should be a natural for us Brits...!

Nice one, Guilio!

I like the result. I may do some experiments myself.

I have pretreated decals with coffee once. Result was much less admirable. Very effective though, you seek replacement within minutes. Very nice SLAF's Mig-27. I like the dirtying effects a lot.
