This Welsh Models kit has been laying around half done for ages, so here goes. In the end I decided to use the Academy C-97 for bits.
The vac formed fuselage is nicely done and it was easy to modify the wing root to take the wing. I drew a pencil line around the wing section and cut the plastic away. The Welsh model wing fits differently.
Some filler to make it a nice smooth surface.
The plans and the model
Nice coat of primer. This is followed to a coat of white primer.
Appliance white for a shiny finish
Masked and a coat of Aluminium
Masking off
Handpainted fin. 2 coats should do plus gloss varnish.

She's going to look great when you finish her.

Another storming build Chuck and this is indeed a thing of beauty, I love a nice looking airliner. Perhaps try gloss black with a hint of clear blue for the cockpit windows, it should give the appearance of more depth.

I'll give it a go, Shaun. My doctor has signed me off for another week, so I'll have a chance to get it done.

Get well soon Chuck and in the meantime the gloss black/clear blue trick might give you the effect that you are looking for. I've used it in the past on airliners and tank periscopes with varying levels of success, sometimes it looks fine sometimes not as good. Such is the way with these things!

How's the Strat going Chuck, still grounded?

It's in a big plastic box in the shed. I have quite a few airliners to finish, but I'm easily distracted.

So am I, I counted around 15 started airliner kits lying around the mancave and in the bottom of the display case that need finishing.

I love the classic, yet unusual lines of that plane & your model really does it justice.

Amazing work and it looks great. It is one of those aircraft that have a ‘nearly finished’ look - rather like the C130 prototype, before the radar nose was added.
