Hasegawa 1/32 Hellcat wreck

Post by legend900 »

This is another shelf queen which keeps calling me to finish. i started this after seeing a photo of a wrecked F6F about to be dumped into the sea from a crane and i went at it hammer and tongs for a year or so then ran out of dedication!!!!!
I will finish it.....................sometime!!

Stunning work, how did you get the corroded look?

i used the debris produced by thinning the plastic and also by creating the holes. i saved this and applied liberal amounts of cement and sprinkled the residue over this. the white/grey colour is ashes pigment, the rest is base colour and various oversprays of brown and black oil paint well thinned.

As a modeller this astounds me. As an aviation enthusiast it makes me want to cry. The thought of a once proud warbird having met this fate and about to be unceremoniously dumped overboard.
Amazing work. Totally inspirational.

All the best.

I haven't seen anything like this before and am quite impressed by the work you've done. Very cool indeed.

Wow, yet another jaw dropping aircraft wreck from you, Bill. Amazing stuff - a high degree of skill is required to model wrecks due to the need to show exposed internals, weathering effects etc. Marvellous!
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Now that is real modelling.... Superb work on getting the very badly damaged look - and the result of a great deal of patient effort. My hat off to you sir!

Very nice work. Can't wait to see it a base with sea all around.
So many models, so little time.
