Brass paint recommedations

Post by JamesPerrin »

Looking for a good brass metallic paint. I needed some for my recent SeaLion build and settled for Humbrol's, due to time restrictions, but this is too bronze/coppery. Brass should be a dull gold colour. I did try mixing some metallics but it just look like gold with some silver bits in it.

I'd suggest Runelord Brass with a drybrush of Griffon Gold!

IIRC the Vallejo Brass is pretty good, and decently yellow as well...

Cheers Matt. Will the Vallejo stuff brush paint?

I've only used it for buttons, swivels and other detailing, where it's absolutely fine applied by brush. What it would be like for larger, smoother areas, I don't know. I can try an experiment this evening and get back to you...

The Vallejo Metallics brush very well, you should have no problems with it.

You'll find the Vallejo metallics mix well with their none metallics - mixing gold with browns to get burnt metal for exhausts and collector rings works really well. Then I just do a drybrush with a darkish grey to finish.

Cheers
