Adrian's Antipodean Adventures

Post by ara398 »

Afternoon All,

It's a balmy 40.3C here for anyone north of the equator

For various reasons I failed to finish my Secret Santa gift in time, so I'll be continuing the build in this thread.

The first part of the build is here:
http://uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=259&t=8387

I've cleaned everything up, primed with Tamiya White lacquer and will start on the main colours and paint the inside of the canopy Tamiya Smoke (as soon as the sun goes down...)

Here's where I'm up to:

Upward and onward!

The weather does not really make you want to model as we had 43 degrees over here today but down to 28 tomorrow but then on the way back up again.

I have completed that Viking and loved it. Such a great build and a cool looking aircraft

This is looking very good. Like the look of the plane, might have to get one. Looks like a nice kit as well.
Confused as always, and somewhere in hiding on the Scandinavian peninsula...

Nice progress Adrian, I never thought of painting engines like that. Are the intakes stuffed with blutak?

Hi Ray,

yep that's blutak. There's also a thin bead of it on the pylon where it joins the wing (so I don't have to scrape the paint away when its time for glue).

Had a minor setback with the canopy. Lovely smoked finish except for the dozen or so "bubbles"

Even though I cleaned the canopy thoroughly, I didn't future it... So its out with the methylated spirits and start again.

Thanks for looking,
Adrian
