Beany's Egyptian Lancaster ++DNF++
I've been far too busy with work recently to have any modelling time and so I missed the Lancaster GB, thus I'm rolling this one forward into this GB by building a Lancaster and using some Hannants decals, both of which have been languishing in my stash for several years now.
The decals are for a Lancaster B.I, REAF 1804 (ex. TW894), Royal Egyptian Air Force, Almaza, 1955.
It is one of 9 Lancs supplied to the REAF beginning in 1950.
The scheme is Medium Sea Grey over Black - pretty boring so I may have to subtly weather it up as bit to add a bit of interest. Unusually for me I shall do it wheels down without any crew aboard.
Cheers
Al.

This makes a welcome change.
Enjoyment over accuracy. That's my motto

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Not yet Fred, but I have the week off work this week so intend to spend much of it at the modelling bench.

Re: Beany's Egyptian Lancaster
Finally made a start on this one. Cockpit first as usual. Detail isn't too bad, better than the older classic kits I'm used to
making (the wings have Revell 2007 stamped inside). The little Merlins are nice and go together well. Basically, this
was one big "gluing whatever can be glued together first" session, then on to a bit of interior and detail painting tomorrow.
Cheers

That's what I was thinking, much better than the old Airfix kit.fredk wrote:That cockpit looks the business and nice Merlins too
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Re: Beany's Egyptian Lancaster
It is a nice kit Al, I've got one sat in on the shelf of doom half painted as a Coastal Command aircraft. I probably should get round to finishing it soon.

Re: Beany's Egyptian Lancaster
Still ongoing Fred, I actually did a bit on it over the weekend. A bust as far as the GB dates are concerned I'm afraid so I'll carry it on in My Workbench.
Thanks for hosting the GB Fred - good job mate!
Cheers

Re: Beany's Egyptian Lancaster
I look forward to seeing it all finished and marked up. Its not a country one associates with Lancs.
