I haven't forgotten about this Paul and will build something for you but I'm having to concentrate my mind on SMW as it is rapidly drawing near. I'll send you a PM at some point in the near future.

Hi Jeffjssel wrote:I also promised an article of the old Airfix Stork which is staring at me of of a corner of my shelf of shame. I had a bit of an article started so let me see if I can get cracking and "git 'er done."
Please might you kindly consider:
The Stork's undercarriage; I've lost my instructions so I don't know if my model is sitting or flying.
CB+VD love to know more about this particular Stork.
When it was made, transparent plastic was not brittle. Were Airfix to reintroduce it, they would have the problem of attachment of wings to brittle clear plastic.
The tailplane shape is a little out according to plans in June edition of Model Aircraft.
Otherwise a delight to make.

Thanks for that. It appears on stilts for sure.

Re: Classic Plastic Status, and an Appeal
A lot of Storch kits seem to show the aircraft with the shock absorbing oleos fully extended. When on the ground, the oleos were compressed by a large amount.
Academy's Storch also has an issue with wing dihedral =- which is too pronounced and needs to be flattened out a bit.

Re: Classic Plastic Status, and an Appeal
Paul,
I am SO sorry I didn't see this thread earlier, I rarely (actually never have! ) gone to this part of the forum so I missed this, accept my apologies.
All I ever build is Classic stuff, and I have also written for magazines in the past (not modelling, other topics, Classic American Cars and also Amiga computing magazines) so I will certainly try to offer you some contributions. After all, Classic Plastic is the only thing I read in SAMI, everything else I just gloss over, Classic Kits is where my interest in this hobby lies.
I can write something legible and readable, my writing skills are 'OK' I guess, my only concerns are:
1) Photography. I am no photographer (by any stretch) and only have a little compact camera. If I place the bits on plain background (like pale blue paper) and take a shot, is that acceptable (rather than my usual efforts of snapping my cluttered workbench)?
and 2) (And this is my real concern), I am not a very good modeller (you've seen my efforts!). Would my paltry and average efforts be acceptable for publication? I am doubtful of this.
But since I am out of work at the moment and have plenty of time on my hands, I am more than happy to take the time and make an effort if it is welcomed by those concerned, especially if it helps keep Classic Plastic alive!
Regards,
Zee28

Re: Classic Plastic Status, and an Appeal
Way hay - my article on the Revell/Monogram X-15 appears in this month's edition of "Scale Aviation Modeller". And it is presented very, very nicely.
Thanks Paul.
I'm feeling quite chuffed.
I'll have to sort out another article before long.

Re: Classic Plastic Status, and an Appeal
No rush.
I'm in my very busy work period at the moment and that will be the case right through to 31 January. I won't be able to do any modelling until February.
I have a number of "classic" projects in mind so hopefully I'll be able to get one going as soon as work permits.

Paul,
Just out of interest but what sort of stuff are you after? Does it have to be all OOB or is AM allowed?
Regards
