Do I really need to say something?
In this case a picture says 1,000 words or maybe even more. Was supposed to be a SnowBird.

Looks like you applied the white paint too thick and/or close and it seaped under the masking. Sucks when that happens, did you use an airbrush or rattle can? I know spray cans have a tendency to do seap paint.

First attempt ever at air brushing with a Badger 150. Should have seen the look on my face when the tape came off. I laugh at it now. The build will be back out some time soon. Used Easy Off to clean it up.Sucks when that happens, did you use an airbrush or rattle can?

we've all done it, think of it as part of the learning curve
what sort of tape are you using?.
try brushing some klear along the tape edge to seal it first

Re: Do I really need to say something?
Very cheap green tape. Not much different than regular masking tape. The real issue was expecting an air brush to paint like a rattle can.what sort of tape are you using?.
Your klear is my S.W.I.S.H floor sealer. About $15.00 a gallon but the dealer always has about 2 or 3 inches in a jug that he is kind enough to donate to the cause.try brushing some klear along the tape edge to seal it first
When this kit comes back out it is sure to be much better. Just hope all the parts can be located.
Thanks for the input Beowulf.

Yes, heard that. Actually not long ago AndrewR went to a hobby shop with me and helped pick some stuff out. Tamiya tape was one item, two varieties or sizes. Tried to use it on a Mig15 canopy and didnt have much luck. The exacto must not have been sharp enough, didnt cut the tape well and left scratch marks in the glass. Will tale time to learn.Tamiya masking tape is so superior, it is worth every penny
Thanks Bobblelink.

Re: Do I really need to say something?
A trick I have heard of, but never had a chance to try yet, is when you have the area of the design you wish to make masked out; give outline a coat of the base colour and let it dry. If there is a chance for paint to get under the tape; the original colour would be the one so there should be no damage and it would also seal the spots where leakage might occur. Then spray the design colour. Although I was under the impression the lightest colour would be the first to be put down.
Perhaps someone can confirm if this is the way to do it.

Re: Do I really need to say something?
funny enough ive always had probs with tamiya tape on canopies....used to leave a residue til i read you shouldnt leave it on for more than a few days max...........as for cutting i bought some dissection blades (basically half a razor blade in a spine),....far better than any modelling knife blade ive found.....but tamiya tape is great for masking on fuselages

Re: Do I really need to say something?
The best thing a modeler can do is go buy a box of 100 Exacto blades - they really aren't expensive.
The next best thing is to stop treating them as treasures -- use them a little bit then change 'em out.
A dull blade is inefficient and dangerous.
A sharp blade does what it is supposed to, cuts neatly/cleanly with little or no effort.
Burnish the masking tape to be sure it is down tight.
Don't blow paint into the edge, shoot straight down or from behind the edge.
Try lowering your air pressure, thin coats.
Just some thoughts ....

Thanks jRatz. Everything will come together slowly. Having to much fun to worry. Will see how the SnowBird comes out once I find it.
