Thanks, Paul...

So, here's a Mirage:

And here's a burning MiG. Still work to do, but I'm pleased with the fire effect:

and here's a Mirage pointing at a distant MiG, as in the artwork:

The markings are not exactly those of the box art, but these Superscale decals actually work!

The Mirage looks great. I really like what you've done with the MIG, looks as if the plane has a molten core, very clever!

Looks like they hit the fuel tank. Maybe a few wisp of cotton wool would be a good addition?

I really like the Mirage. The explosions really came to life from the "Swimmers" they first looked like. :-D

Thanks, chaps...

Here's the extended and motion-blurred final background art:

I now need to find somewhere in town that can run it out on a high-quality A3 colour printer...

Slight screw-up on the printing front... it should be back tomorrow!

Progress so far:

The rockets are painted fishing line, which does have a tendency to return to the shape on the reel...

Thanks, chaps. Here's the first full mock-up, with the backdrop:

Image

The "titles" aren't the final ones yet, and I need to find out what the end of a Type IV dogfight double box looks like so I can repeat the distortion trick on the sides of the base. I'm going to give the MiGs wire undercarts, so they can sit a little more off the base, and if I can find any 1/185 >1/200 scale little guys, I'll pop them on...

And here's the closest I can get to the box art crop with my camera, indoors in poor light...

Image

I need some rocket exhaust from the pods, as well... where's that cotton wool?

M.

Superb stuff. Can we have a couple of side shots so we (erm... I ) can get a better idea of how you've achieved the distortion?
