Re: E.E. Lightning SB 'The Lightning Boys!'
Following a short break building elsewhere I have got back to my Lightning builds, after finishing the paintwork I then applied the decals hoping to complete the F.1a model this weekend but I dropped a clanger in unknowingly moving one of the nose roundel/flash decals, of course I did not notice this until the decal had dried so the nose now needed to be rubbed down and re-primed ready for a new paint finish and new decals.
The decals have been ordered from Hannants and should be with me later this week but the model will not now be finished until next weekend so to fill in the time I will prepare the Airfix model for conversion into the P.1b XA847.
David.

Yes but at least it isn't a major disaster- the nose will be repainted by the time the new decals get here and that just leaves the canopy, undercarriage, missiles and a few odds and ends to finish it off.

Now that the nose has been repainted the new decals can go on.
All decalled up and ready for final assembly, the xtradecal roundels had more accurate colours than those supplied with the kit so they were applied on top of the kit ones to ensure they all matched.

Excellent, David. I think that is by far the best looking colour scheme for a Lightning.

Same here David, it really had to be the first colour scheme I used.

Really different. Doesn't look unrealistic, does it?

I have to agree, without being big headed or anything, but yes, looking at it in person it does look more than realistic. There isn't anything implausible about it. The Freightdog conversion set is really easy to prepare and use.

Gorgeous, David. Just gorgeous.
I hate to be nitpicky but isn't she actually an F.1 (no a)?
