Re: 1/350 Titanic
This is looking good so far, I will follow this build carefully as I have the Revell 1/400 in my stash.
Exciting kit you've got there, especially with all the photo etched parts.

Confused as always, and somewhere in hiding on the Scandinavian peninsula...

Re: 1/350 Titanic
Thanks! I'll be getting back on this pretty soon. As soon as my Bf 109 is done actually. This is going to be a long build, but I'll try to not go terribly long between posts.

If there are no stupid questions, then what kind of questions do stupid people ask? Do they get smart just in time to ask questions?

Re: 1/350 Titanic
Hello again. After far too long an absence I've rejoined the modelling world. I'm picking this build up again because it's a dear thing to me and I have sunk so much money into PE extras that I need to recoup my investment.
More to come.....

Great to see you back in action with this build Dollar after the thick end of five years - jeez how the time flies Looking forward to seeing more, the old Titanic was a good looking liner IMHO.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Holy build revival Batman!
Great to see this thread (re-)surface; I have the Academy 1/400 limited edition in the stash with all the bells and whistles and this could just be the inspiration I need to get it on the bench!

Welcome back to the workbench, your crisp lines are impressive on the plated hull, what's your secret?

Re: 1/350 Titanic
Thank you sirs, it's good to be back!
In answer to your query, Splash. Good old Tamiya tape and a lot of patience. Plus a considerable amount of burnishing of the tape. There were several re-dos as well.

Re: 1/350 Titanic
Ha! I was hoping for something a little more advanced for this..... Looks like it'll be the old fashioned way for at least this part of my build!dollar19 wrote:Thank you sirs, it's good to be back!

(To be fair though, that is a cracking neat line you've achieved )
Best wishes

Re: 1/350 Titanic
Nope .... no laser engraver or ultrasonic thing a ma jig! Just the old fashioned way. But I do appreciate the compliment! Did I mention the unmentionable language that went along with the masking?
Last night I got the main deck glued into the hull. Another long process. The deck is in two pieces of long very flexible styrene. Of course the hull is wider than the deck, so it was glue-clamp a couple inches at a time. Down on side and then the other. All told that amounted to 50 and one half inches. Each side got attached with MEK and clamped till it was bonded and then a thin bead of CA was run along the seam applied with a thin wire applicator. I must apologize for not taking pictures during the process but I really had both hands full. I have to go assemble an outdoor couch for my daughter and grandson tonight but I'll post up a picture of the hull and deck later tonight.

Re: 1/350 Titanic
Really good to see this back again.
I had thought about this one converted to Olympic in dazzle scheme ... I figured the larger size would be easier to paint than a smaller scale.

Re: 1/350 Titanic
I just had to try out the bulkhead panel graphics I downloaded. Now that the main deck is glued into place the First class Private Promenades are added next. So here is the result. They were slightly over size but given the fact they won't be seen except with great effort, once the promenade deck is added, I just went for it.
