Re: Daz's Mosquito Madness!!
I always knew there was I reason I disliked garden gnomes.....
Best wishes
Jim
If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Re: Daz's Mosquito Madness!!
I'm tempted to start this one instead of the Zeros - I've done a lot of Zeros recently, but no Mossies!

Re: Daz's Mosquito Madness!!
So, I broke the Mosquito out of its box today....
And made some rapid progress in the space of an hour!
Part-way through this section of the build, though, I started to wonder whether I should build her gear-down or -up. Originally, gear-up had always been the plan, but I'm starting to wonder if the modified bomb bay would be a good place to fit the stand!

Mossie progress:
Trying to build up the bulged bomb-bay using filler. Fun and games!

Re: Daz's Mosquito Madness!!
This one has stalled slightly due to work on the Frog Buchon conversion taking over, plus trying to finish off two 1/24th Airfix kits for someone else. Note to self - don't do it!
I've been trying to fix up the bulged bomb bay on the model, which is layer upon layer of filler....!

OK, so I got back to work on the Mossie today - more filler on the dummy bomb bay.
I've still not decided on a "static" (gear down) or "flying" (on a stand) display, however!

Re: Daz's Mosquito Madness!!
I've done what I would say is a reasonable job on the bomb bay, so will get a pic of that later. Right now, though, here's the progress so far on the Mossie:
My original plan was to do the model with the gear up, mounted on a stand, so I'll stick with that plan!

I've just found an image of the book cover (front AND back, spread out) If you want to pose your Mossie on a stand against it as a backdrop, I can edit out the lead plane for you.DazDaMan wrote:I've done what I would say is a reasonable job on the bomb bay, so will get a pic of that later. I'll post an image of the book cover later tonight hopefully.

Re: Daz's Mosquito Madness!!
There are a few different covers but the one that caught my eye was this one. (can't post images directly at moment)

Not the sharpest image in the World, unfortunately, but should not need much enlargement to go behind the 1/72 Mossie.

Mosquito progress:
Spinners fitted and propeller holes filled, undercarriage doors fitted, nose cap fitted (no guns yet, though), tailwheel fitted. Almost time for painting!

Edited book cover with lead Mossie airbrushed out. PM me your address and I'll run off a couple of copies onto card and get them to you.

Re: Daz's Mosquito Madness!!
Ooh, cheers for that! PM on its way.
I started slinging paint onto the Mosquito last night so, with any luck, I'll have that finished by the end of today!
