Soviet horsemen, 28mm

Post by kruaxi »

I wanted some horsemen for my 28mm Red Army… but… there was a problem.
No one produce them.
To be honest… someone has (only) three ww2 soviet horsemen miniatures in his catalogue, but i don't like them a lot, 'cause are too static, as in a parade.
Soviets had a lot of cavalry battalion in ww2, rarely used in charge ( but the 'soviet' cossacks, of course): horses were a good system to move into the steppes.
On the web i learned how to make a conversion. I bought a box of 'American civil war cavalry', 12 plastic horsemen from Perry, and i did a 'cut and paste' with my plastic soviet infantrymen from Warlord and Plastic soldiers. The standard bearer, from Warlord, it's the only metal's.

I love your figure work; your painting and weathering skills bring them to life so well that you can almost hear the beat of the hooves and the shouts of the riders......not to mention the smells!
Best wishes
