Re: Shaun's Bodging Bench
Many thanks, Stamford.
The JP is now done and dusted and there are further photos in the aviation section. Final details included beefing up the seat cushions with filler, belts out of Tamiya tape and ejection firing handles out of stretched sprue. I also added a roll over bar behind the seats from 0.4mm Plastruct rod and a couple of rear view mirrors to the rear canopy using off cuts of plastic card. Antennae are kit's own. No, the nose wheel shouldn't be all black. The hub centre/tyre definition is very poor, as is often the case with old kits and after a several failed attempts to get a nice round centre I decided to cheat - better all black than a black tyre and anything but round hub IMHO!
These two were a bit of a slog and I've been slow even by my standards! Still, all's well that ends well(ish) - looking at the finished models I can see all the flaws in construction and painting (maybe you can too ) but, hey ho, I never claim perfection!
Next up all being well will be an Airfix Boeing 737-200 that has been lurking on the Shelf of Shame for a couple of years or more since a disaster with a set of FDecals Olympic decals that unfortunately proved to be unuseable in my clumsy hands. I have a set of Airline Hobby Supplies decals for Caledonian Airways and a set of their B737 windows decals. Naturally, the Caledonian livery is totally different to the Olympic colours that the model is currently airbrushed in, save for the white fuselage uppers, so it's a strip down and repaint job
I may yet continue this WW thread despite my annoyance at Photobucket as I prefer my build stuff to all be in one place although I do occasionally post build threads in the armour section. I'll give it more thought but in the meantime thanks for looking.

Re: Shaun's Bodging Bench
Another Stunner of a build Shaun - nice work.
I'm in the same boat as you now, Everything prior to Nov last year was on PB so now most of my WW is defunct - Not sure about starting a new one or not.

Re: Shaun's Bodging Bench
Cheers, Stuart. I initially was hopping mad over the shoddy treatment meted out to us by Photobucket but have since calmed down somewhat and I'm now being a bit more pragmatic about it all. On reflection I will probably continue this WW thread until at least the end of the year to see how things go - i.e. let's see if Postimage remains free!! - and then may well start up a new one for 2018.

Wow very nice
All models are equal. Some models are more equal than others.

Re: Shaun's Bodging Bench
Right. I've been to SMW at Telford, one of the world's premier model shows. I've seen lots of wonderful models. If that can't inspire me out of the doldrums then what can?
So, ladeez and gennerlmen I am clearing the bench and I am going down the fresh build route with one of these (yes, yes, it's a Spitfire, I know, I know, ):
I intend to build the silver painted version as per the box art. The F Mk.22 is one of my favourite versions of this iconic British aircraft. A single-seat fighter in a single colour scheme and what is reckoned to be an excellent kit to boot. What could possibly go wrong?

Nice choice Shaun, plucking up the courage to start a Spitfire myself as a commision build for my Daughter-in-law, she is a massive Battle of Britain flight fan!

Re: Shaun's Bodging Bench
I'm sure you'll be fine, Corricon judging by the work of yours I've seen on here. I need a mojo restorer and figured a nice new tool kit like this built OOB would be just the ticket. Plus it only cost me four quid

Re: Shaun's Bodging Bench
Shaun, I somehow missed the two raspberry birds you posted earlier this summer. They look great!
I have the provost kit too, but I'm mortified of painting those bright glossy colors. I know I can't keep things near and tidy with such colors.
I'll just look at yours instead :D

Many thanks, Ralph I'm glad you like them. Overall I enjoyed building both models (my only two completions of the year so far ) but the masking was a bit of a chore!
