Re: Lancfan's HP 0/400 build
The build is progressing nicely, the wings are complete and ready to be fitted, rigging the tailplanes has been a slow business with almost vestigial information to work off but there will be a report soon.

Re: Lancfan's HP 0/400 build
This shows one partly completed pair of wings along with a finished set.
The tailplanes were assembled as per kit but I made a bash at rigging the tail unit, the available refs were crude to say the least and the rudder lines are partly guesswork.

Re: Lancfan's HP 0/400 build
This is something else, David. I like the modular approach that you are employing regarding the rigging and construction, which breaks the beast down into more manageable chunks. Impressive stuff!

Re: Lancfan's HP 0/400 build
Airfix really did themselves proud with this kit; the modular approach designed into the kit parts breakdown makes it easy to rig for such a large plane. The only aspect that lets it down is the arrangement of the engine mounts, but to be fair, I can't really see how that could be improved if it stays faithful to the original.
I recall finding some scanned original drawings of the 0/400 when I built mine that showed some of the tail empennage and it's rigging....I'll see if I can look them out if I get a bit of time over the weekend.
The GB has been extended to Sunday 6th August btw David so hopefully enough time for you to finish this great looking build

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

It really is a superb kit despite it's age, the end is in sight so this will be finished this weekend.

Thanks John, O_T. I'm not quite finished yet so the extension will come in handy.

Excellent work as always David. At some point I have to try that rigging method. Guitar strings don't always cut it, I have realised.
