Hu149, huh, what is it good for?
Hu149, huh, what is it good for?
Hey All
Recently, by mistake, I bought a tin of Hu149 (I know some people would say that buying any tin of Humbrol paint is a mistake). I was getting the paint for my Matchbox Swordfish and I managed to misremember the Airfix colour call out of 123 + 49 as 149
The question is - what can I use the Hu149 on? It's listed as Dark Green but I cannot recall ever seeing it required on any of the kits I have built.
Cheers

I think 149 green is a colour used on the Harrier GR5 in one of its 'forest' camo schemes
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

It should work on German WW2 aircraft as Dunklegrun as long as you're not picky!
Best wishes

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Re: Hu149, huh, what is it good for?
I use pretty much nothing but Humbrol (apart from Revell now and then), can't fault it myself (apart from the RLM colours). If 149 is green I'd use it for interior work or interior shading with 78 or 120.Springy67 wrote:Hey All

It is also apparently an equivalent of FS34092 or Euro 1 Dark Green, as used on A-10s for example.

Nearest substitute for Hu 114, discontinued, for the camouflaged Egyptian jets post Six Day War.

Thanks guys
Is it a sign of Advanced Stash Addiction that I am seeing the purchase of an unwanted tin of paint as an opportunity to buy a kit to use it on?
And is there any cure?
Cheers

I have some that I used on interiors of US WW2 aircraft. Not 100 % acurate butwhen you can't see much of the inside....
I like the Frankie goes to Hollywood hint in the title btw.
All the best.

I think 'WAR' was recorded by a few artists. I have a vinyl single someplace with it and the artists listed as Randy's all stars.
Sorry about the divergence. Back to green paint.
All the best.

Re: Hu149, huh, what is it good for?
I had the Edwin Starr version in mind. His was more of a "War, huh, what is it good for."
Holly Johnson of FGTH was more "War, ha, what is it good for?"
