Good Amazing, looking forward to the "white and the stripe. And the decals!

Questions: Does the decals have the flying tigers "shark mouth" I want do one in this theme. I think some one mention Airfix does have this theme?

What is your scheme or theme going to be Andrew?

If you goto page 2 of the thread, you can see the decal sheet. I'm doing the top scheme. One of the other schemes has a sharkmouth.

I like the blue spinner and blue and white tail.

I see the scheme sheet with three plane themes, I did not see the actual decal sheet. Did you post the actual decals? Did i miss the photo? Do have a pic?

The airfix cartography decals are excellent. How are the monogram? decals? I have some Revell pt-109 and black widow in my stash.

I am doing a Zero, the air ace battler of the p-40. Zero need more armor and armament to go up against the p-40 "SHARK"

I have some nice Techmod decals to use, and will do the upper option "White 13". There's a white tail, and the wings have little squiggly medium green edges, to make a contrast with the olive drab.

The kit is really basic - pilot on a peg basic. The pilot figure is also terrible, so I may substitute another figure. There is absolutely no cockpit at all, but I may just ignore that.

Image

The bits fit together reasonably well, at least when dry-fitted ;-) . Very hard shiny plastic with raised details, as expected for a kit of this era. I think I may put it on a stand.

Meanwhile, here is the completed Bulldog. I haven't rigged the radio antenna, as I would have to drill the upper wings, which are a tad too fragile for my liking. All I've done is use Vallejo Satin varnish to dull down the decals a bit.

This is a fairly nice kit, and I do have another one in the stash, with another set of decals on the Model Alliance sheet :-D

The rigging is done with thin elastic cord called EZ-line. And rigging does take time and patience!

Here is the tail painted and assembled.

The undercarriage doors have been added, and are not great when posed in the closed position!

I'm steeling myself for doing the canopy framing, and the prop, which has quite a complex paint job, has been primed ready for the yellow tips to be painted on.

That's some great paint work, Andrew! I think you've captured the look perfectly and I don't think I've ever seen that green scalloping done better.

Thanks. I was very pleased with the way the US Green and RLM 02 blended. The scalloped effect was a bit trickier, and I will be able to do a better job next time!

A fragile thing of beauty. A bit scary to handle.

Cheers Bromo. A bit pushed for time for the next few days. The undercarriage doors need a bit of fixing and a lick of paint. Then I can work on the kit. :ha:
