Pinned parts paint drying stand for free, how to.

Pretty nice DIY
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Thanks, just seemed such a simple but neat thing when I saw them for sale and thought I could easily make one of those and it's nice and portable you can transfer from desk to drying box (big plastic storage box I use) and it should last longer than the styrofoam I used to use.

I watched the video but it still seems like a lot of effort. I just use foam bricks from Hobbycraft (used for flower arranging) and stick cocktail sticks or sprue etc. straight into them - I don't even take the cellophane wrapping off - and it still come in at less than a fiver!

Less than a fiver is still 4.99 ish more expensive than free ;)
That'll buy you an Airfix starter kit!
Ultimately it's what works for you that matters and if you're happy with yours that's all that's important but seeing the Mr Hobby Mr Paintstation stands at £8 made me think, I could make one of those for nothing, the Glue isn't even essential so your material costs are a corrugated cardboard box you or the supermarket is discarding and a model kit box you're (hopefully otherwise), recycling.
Prior to this I used styrofoam, I know people who use oasis, (not the band but sticking cocktail sticks in them, some might enjoy, anything that stops his droning), there's no right and wrong but it's nice making something that works well, is nicely weighted and won't tip, (as styrofoam has done spoiling paint for me before) and should last a long time before replacement is required.

m1ks' dryer/holder is cool, I wouldn't have thought to make the laminates fit inside a kit box like that.
OTOH, I've used Al's flower blocks and will now keep the plastic on to keep flaking dust from them in check.
