PurpleThistle ADDS Flash to an old kit **FINISHED**

Pre-1980 boxings of any kit, but preferably hard to obtain -- something that would make a collector cringe to see built.

PurpleThistle ADDS Flash to an old kit **FINISHED**

Post by Purplethistle »

Got a lot going on with my other (paying) hobby just now but hopefully I can get the venerable Airfix 54mm Polish Lancer converted for this one.

Obligatory box shot with early progress. So far only shaved off some horse harness and buttons from outside of Chappies trousers.
Also some cutting and shaving to have the rider leaning forward rather than sitting up in saddle.
The grey sprue is the Mini Art Afrika Korps panzer crew, one of whom will have a co-starring role....albeit more as Lili Marleen than Rommel!

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

I gotta praise your guess, but no!

I've selected the legs, torso and head for Valentina, the Generals daughter, and have cut and sanded down the original parts' shorts to bare legs and am using a blob of chewing gum to hold the legs together until the desired position is achieved (without having to do explicit anatomical detail!)
The benefit of using gum is that it is workable until you get the position right and then you pop it in the freezer to set solid. The one drawback of this is being in Sainsburys and having your wife suddenly say in a loud voice, "Oh aye! why are there body parts in the freezer?"

Schweinhund!!!! It would seem that what I thought was one plastic part hitting the floor and bouncing twice on Saturday was actually two parts, only one of which has been retrieved. The other would seem to be in the belly of the Hoover Monster.
The missing part is Dobbins ears.

Why the long face?
Pardon?

Tell the carpet monster to stop horsing around.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

I don't like to nag!

Progress- just a bit more painting and detailing and the male to female gender reassignment (or Addaractomy) begins.

Your work with figures is one of the delights of this community to me and I never cease to be astonished at how you're able to modify these figures to match those book covers.

You're well on the way towards another marvel and I'm glad to catch the play-by-play!

Cheers Auk, glad you like them.

Valentina is assembled and after a sand down and repaint of a couple of spots where the the Milliput isn't quite smooth enough, will be ready for detailing.

Back when I was a far younger bird, I fancied myself a bit of an artist. Some of my paintings on canvas were well received at parties after everyone had a few drinks. However, sculpture was never something I felt remotely competent at.

Seeing how you're able to craft these figures into such wonderful objets d'art never fails to amaze me and each one seems better than the last.

Incredible!
