Academy 1/72 Scale Grumman TBF-1 Avenger

Post by Marc »

Hi all

Recent completed build. Academy's 1/72 Avenger. Built OOB including kit decals. Not the most accurate model with limited "clunky" internal detail, but can't complain when it only cost NZ $14.00. At the end of the day the fun part is the actual build.

Turned out quite nice.

Very tidy build. I've made the same kit myself and it isn't the best one Academy ever did. You've made a nice job of that.

A very sweet build. Is it true that this is a re-pop of the FROG kit?

All the best.

Very neat job!

Not quite. Many of the early Academy kits made use of the FROG originals, but with obvious cleanup and minor improvement.
This one for example, is betrayed by the circular observer blisters used by FAA aircraft (as in the FROG kit).

Cheers for the info David.
I have the Academy kit and some Frog decals. Wouldn't look out of place together methinks.

All the best.
