I have asked John if we can book this for May.

Re: May 2018: Operation Chastise 75th anniversary?
Yes, but I am unclear whether this is Chastise (Lancaster/Dambuster) specific or for any 617 Sqn aircraft, as listed in first post.
We did the latter in 2013, Dambusters 617 Sqn and had several Lancaster GB before that.

I propose any 617 squadron aircraft be eligible as a tribute to the squadron.

Re: May 2018: 617 Sqdn / Operation Chastise 75th anniversar
Im in.
Could we have the rules relaxed on the F-35?
I mean the only none expensive and easily available F-35 in 1/72 is the F-35A in US markings.
Maybe bolt oob just to represent the future?
If so Ill build my Italeri F-35A for this.

That's a bit steep in price!
I'll just wait till they come into service and both Airfix and Revell show interest as they did with the Typhoon.

Re: May 2018: 617 Sqdn / Operation Chastise 75th anniversar
Folks, I am really sorry but I am going to have to pull out of my own suggested GB.
My daughter's wedding will keep us from home from April 20 until May 2 and then we have house guests from then until the end of that week. I thought I'd be OK starting then if I stuck to something simple but now I need to go to Scotland from May 21 to June 1.
That leaves me only 2 weeks to actually build and, frankly, I can't be online much to provide encouragement as GB leader outside those 2 weeks either.
Does anybody want to step in to GBL this one? I will assist as best I can. Or should we just cancel it because you could still build a 617 machine and put it into the 100 Year of RAF GB?
Again, I am truly sorry about this as I believe Chastise and 617 merit a GB.

Re: May 2018: 617 Sqdn / Operation Chastise 75th anniversar
That leaves 4 solid confirmations and 3 possibles - rather undersubscribed.
I'm going to suggest we can simplify things, and provide more flexibility to modelers who might have been interested in both, by building inside the RAF 100th GB.

Re: May 2018: 617 Sqdn / Operation Chastise 75th anniversar
I would tend to agree with John that this could be nicely accommodated within the RAF 100 GB, possibly having a sub-section and leader accordingly?
I'm certainly going to build something for the 617 anniversary but (famous last words ) can do it alongside my 1/35th Tempest Mk.II so as to hit the 16/17th May date. I would be happy to act as the sub-section GBL if required

Best wishes

I feel really bad about this. Thanks, John and Jim. I too can probably build my 617 tribute within the 100 Years GB and be complete for the anniversary of the actual raid (although I plan to model one of their post raid mounts).

Re: May 2018: 617 Sqdn / Operation Chastise 75th anniversar
I don't think we would need a physical sub-section, just have everyone participating use a common phrase in their thread title, perhaps "617/Chastise:" followed by what is. We could have an asst GBL to herd that along.

Hi Guys,
I think John's suggestion is an excellent one and I'm more than happy for it to be merged into the RAF 100 GB - as it is it fits in nicely.
I think the 617 header is a good idea, and whilst I'm more than happy to cover it as GBL another assistant to cover this specifically would be welcome.
As it is, a 617 Tornado GR.4 was on my possible build list for the RAF 100 so I may join you.
Cheers
