I agree with Shaun; the shading has worked very nicely
Best wishes

Re: TeeELLs kitchen crafting kit creations
All the areas that will receive decals have been polished with 12,000 grit and to a high shine. Before I do the decals though, I need to do the walkways and anti-glare panel.

Re: TeeELLs kitchen crafting kit creations
The anti glare and walkways have been painted and I have added the decals. I am pleased with the results, there is no silvering apparent (home brew decals are printed on carrier film) and the 'yellow' surround on the 'stars and bars' has blended well. I will aim to post photos tomorrow, once the decals are fully dry.

Superb work thus far Tony.
Where do you do your airbrushing? I assume not at the kitchen table?

My airbrushing is done next to the kitchen table, to the left. I have a table on which is mounted my airbrush fume extractor cabinet.

Re: TeeELLs kitchen crafting kit creations
Here is the 'Texan' with decals added. I am really pleased with the numbers and letters as they are on carrier film and there is no discernable 'silvering' whatsoever. System works.
There is some touching-up to do, the rudder markings need a spot of matching paint and the anti glare panel 'ran' slightly. The yellow surround to the national markings has worked well with a near perfect match - it fact it looks better in reality than the photo suggests and sealing the decals before applying certainly worked to prevent the edges flaking as I cut them out.

Wow that looks like a million bucks, TeeELL!
I can see what you mean about the yellow borders on the markings. Funny how things can photograph just a bit differently than seen with the eye. Sometimes it makes me wonder if my vision is off.
This is shaping up to be a real show-stopper!

That's looking great Tony, and thanks for the info on how you spray. I wonder if something similar might work for me - It'd have to be easy to move though.

SirT,
The small table sits directly in front of a window - provides light but also the means of fume extraction. The hose goes out through the open window.

SirT, a view of my 'spray booth' and facilities.
The radiator also serves as a 'fast drying' facility although the enamel's mix I use dries very quickly indeed.

Thanks for the picture Tony, that's really interesting to see. I'm wondering if I could set up something similar. If you're using enamels, how good is it at removing the fumes?TeeELL wrote:SirT, a view of my 'spray booth' and facilities.

Re: TeeELLs kitchen crafting kit creations
I think it is quite effective to be honest. I use a particularly 'hot' airbrush cleaning fluid that wearing a mask is a 'must' for, the extractor clears that very quickly. Of course, my domestic boss lives 5 miles away so she has no cause to complain.
