Due to a couple of current GB’s the CDL’s have gone on hold

As part of the Krap kit GB i’m going to do a tribute build to my late Father and build the Landing Ship Tank LST157 that he skippered during the war.

Great work with the CDL conversions, Alan and to be able to build a model of the actual vessel that your father skippered is excellent!

I always enjoy the 'tribute' builds that come along periodically. These builds usually mean the modeller goes the extra mile, and works the model to the highest level of their ability.
In my mind, as a modeller, there is no higher honor that you can give your father.

Those CDLs look superb as is, Alan; very nice. And I am sure you will work your usual magic on that LST as well.

The old Limburger kit lacks a lot of detail but is a good base to start with, so I have removed all the deck detail and I have added the strengthening strakes that run along the hull sides.

Looking at photos of my fathers ship I’m going to have to scratch build the forward two landing craft and their lifting gear

Cheers, I’m so pleased with these builds I’m now looking at converting a Churchill to the Gun Carriage version with its big square fixed turret, once I get over the current GB,s that I’m playing in.

I have tried to add simple detail to the superstructure by adding a strip of plastic around it after punching out the scuttles and adding doors.

I have made a copy of the Higgins boat using a two part silicon mould and plain old two part car filler.

This image show the original at the front followed by straight out of the mould and cleaned up with a coat of primer.
