Yesterday I picked up Tamiya 1/35 WWII Afrika Corps (35314) and an Airfix 2018 catalogue. I saw the new Airfix Phantom but I wasn't tempted :ha:

Otto Preminger?

Anyhow; the first 2018 arrivals chez iggie have arrived. The Phantom is possibly star of the show, although I had to get it from another supplier in the end, as my original choice seems to have problems fulfilling orders......and then tries to make out that Airfix had revised the release date to February :???: Funny that, as Chris (Falcon) and others already had the kit in their hands by this time
The same supplier also sent the Stirling in a plastic bag :frown: . Just a plastic bag mind you, resulting in the box being somewhat crushed. No damage to the kit inside it has to be said, but disappointing none the less.

A nice selection there Iggie to lay the foundations for the year. I barely dare to admit (being someone who struggles to find the same enthusiasm for planes that I do for boats and tanks) but I can feel a phantom purchase coming on soon.

As for new year additions I have just taken delivery of this former Frog, Russian repop:

Quite a surprise came my way a couple of weeks ago at work.
I arrived in the car park before my shift to a friend who had a kit in his car for me.
It still has the shrink wrap on it!
It's in the form of an Airfix 1/24 Harrier GR.3

Anorher addition to the stash. Revell Mirage 111. I wamnted this kit as a child but never got it. This is straight into the to build pile.

Additionally and slightly off topic I also have on the way a Dinky Eagle transporter for restoration. I know it's slightly off the scope for this forum but if there is interest I will cover the restoration in my workbench thread.

All the best.

It's not plastic, but it's still modelling IMHO - would love to see it Greg. I bought a totally knackered Dinky SHADO Mobile, stripped it, primed it and sprayed it a more prototypical blue/grey colour. Painted the cab interior and sourced a replacement missile for it. Soon after that I got my hands on a much wanted Product Enterprises Diecast so sold the Dinky one on eBay for 4 times what I payed for it.
I may do it again one day as I really enjoyed it so it wasn't just about making money from it. You can get replacement tank tracks, missiles and even Dinky retro-boxes for them these days so they are obviously still popular.

A visit to my LMS yesterday enabled me to picked up this nice set of HMMWV’s from REVELL, you get two vehicles in the box and at under £11 I thought good value.
