PM Models

Post by Dazzled »

I've just had a look on the Scalemates site, as I'm wont to do from time to time, and saw that there is a new kit release from PM Models, a rebox of Revell's F-104G Starfighter with Turkish AF decals. I was under the impression that PM had ceased to exist following the sad and untimely passing of it's owner and that the family had sold the molds for scrap. Does anybody know if they're back in business?

I had not idea what was going on with PM and am sorry to hear the owner passed on. While their kits weren't up to modern standards, their simplicity makes them good fodder for kitbashing.

I remember Gregg selling off a load of PM Spits for a quit a pop at Waddington Airshow, I believe the owner had not long left us when this happened.

I'd like to see a PM make a comeback too. Their kits weren't sometimes the best but they produced models of subjects that other companies didn't consider worthwhile. I wonder what the odds are of any of their moulds surviving?

I read that one part of the family took sledge hammers to the moulds and dumped the pieces rather than share them with the rest of the family or sell them.

Sounds a bit selfish of that family member.

Sad, but you never know what goes on in families. I'd heard that the moulds had been melted down for their scrap value.

My local news agent has a few PM kits including a Flaggon and a USAF jet. I scored a Sea Fury for $A10.00. Not the greatest but still looks like one :bounce:

I am thinking Airfix 1/48 for my birthday 8-)

On Facebook there were some new images of the F-5 family , Talon included in PM Boxes. New artwork , not sure if they are new molds or borrowed like the Starfighter.

These are interesting Shane. PM did have models of these types in their range.
