Thanks for the comments, guys.
I'm calling this one done.
As mentioned by Gnomemeansgnome, I used stretched sprue inserted into predrilled holes and leaves cut from green paper, to complete the bamboo.
The groundwork is polyfilla with various small stones and sand added, then painted and washed with various colours of acrylics.
So completes my first GB on UAMF.

That's brilliant Paddy! The figure is superb in it's own right but the addition of the bamboo and scenery really makes it work fantastically!

That is stunning Paddy! although the finished photos don't show it quite as well as the progress one just before you made the bamboo, the eyes looking to the guys left in what I call 'combat squint' give it a totally believable animation. The painting and vegetation are so spot on too. MegaKudos
