Miguelito's little Mig-15 ** FINISHED **

Had a little free time today, and figured I'd give a go at trying a to blitz this kit.

Eduard's 1/144 Mig-15



This kit comes two in a pack, but I started the first one while traveling and left the partially completed Mig at a hotel, so hopefully this one doesn't get lost in the process.

I'm officially on the clock!

Time for an update.

"Step 1" is complete. Actually, the steps aren't numbered for this one, so the first page is technically all that's done. Still needs some clean up, but the cockpit is in place, and the plane has taken shape. Still a considerable amount of VERY small work needs to be done under the fuselage, so we'll see how that goes.



Starting a Blitz at lunchtime is not advisable. Fortunately, my son suggested we head down the street to a local taqueria, which turned out to be a good suggestion. I went with the torta al pastor (basically a BBQ pork sandwich ala Mexican style).



There wasn't any room in the nose for some added weight, so hopefully the plastic cockpit tub does the trick. Otherwise I may have a tail sitter on my hands.

Step/Page 2 is complete. It was mainly just wheel well covers and the guns, so it doesn't look much different.



My main concern was realized once the wheels were in place. It's a tail sitter.



Oh well. I took a base out of my collection for gaming figures and scribed some concrete panels into it. I'll plan on gluing it down. No more tail sitting.



Now onto Page/Step 3 and more work on the underside, plus the canopy. I think the kit is supposed to have masks, but I don't have them anymore, so I'm kind of scratching my head on how to paint the minuscule canopy panels. I'm definitely doing it separate from the model, but still wondering what would be the best method.

Page/Step 3 is complete, and so is construction.



Ready for some priming and to choose a scheme. The Eduard kit comes with a variety of them. It's very nice. I'm leaning towards an Egyptian Mig.

Good solution with the base. Interesting that you (and others) put the wheels on before painting them. I always paint them separately but maybe I don't need to.
