Re: Jeff's Hurricane Blitz***under way***
I haven't had a lot of free time today so I've missed quite a bit of the action. This is progressing very nicely, Jeff and it is a very nice looking kit. Your workbench looks very similar to my Ikea one - except yours is very tidy and mine is a bombsite
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Re: Jeff's Hurricane Blitz***under way***
The air frame is all put together now and low and behold the fit is better than anticipated. The leading and trailing edge of the lower wing was almost a snap together. When that was set I mounted the tops. When aligned glued everything down. There was a slight gap against the fuselage but a line of tape from wingtip over the fuselage tightened it all up.
The one real area I suspected problems were the rear cockpit bulkhead fitting into the fuselage. As you can see by the photo it was not bad and a bit of filler will clean that up. The canopy is dry fit to check things out. The seat seems a little to straight up and down. Maybe it will bend back a bit.
I am now just starting to think of the overall paint. Google images show on photo with a red spinner. One with a yellow spinner. And one with a red scallop behind the spinner. I will go with just the red spinner. There was also a photo of what I think may have been a BBMF paint job. Maybe someone can enlighten me. At any rate, BE500 appears to have had a long career considering the times.
So now I will begin the seam clean up in prep for painting.

No idea about the wires I'm afraid, but I do like a nice neat bench
Anyone know where you get them from?

Thanks for the input Gents.
@Iggie. Mine came from a Hardware store called Menards here in the States. You have to build it from a box. Pegboard back, 42 inch bench, two pullout drawers and two lower shelves. It is that press wood stuff but very sturdy. I have a piece of safety glass on the surface cut to fit. Great for easy clean up.

Most excellent, that really is coming together nicely.

Stop the presses. I found a picture in the Hurricane Walk Around book from wartime showing exactly what I needed.

Messing around with some fiddly bits now. Landing gear, prop hub, landing lights etc. Seams lines are good. Holes drilled the antennas. Time to think about putting some color on.
But first some lunch.

The time has come to do a little masking and painting. Overall I will use Tamiya Flat Black. Post shading with Tamiya NATO Black.

Black and NATO black is a good choice.
I have heard that some people add a little red to the black to break it up .

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.
Re: Jeff's Hurricane Blitz***under way***
The initial Flat Black is applied. I did a swath of the two blacks together to check contrast. Seems OK to my eye,
From here on in is the tough part for me. End is in sight and the risk of breaking off parts is always there.
Time to fire up.

Counter shading is done. Going to get it up on it's legs before glossing in preparation for decaling.
