I'm going to attempt another kit.
I am determined to finish a kit in a GB!
My second attempt will either be the MisterCraft AH-1G Arctic Cobra or the Amodel Yak-55M.
No idea when though so stay tuned.

I don’t want to jinx you, but my experience of Amodel kits is, they don’t tend to make good blitz kits, due to the quality of their parts fit and the need for filler.
Having said that MasterCraft kits aren’t much better but they are cheap which is one of the top priorities of a blitz kit in my mind.

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Go Mav. I will be watching while doing my Blitz.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale
Re: Mav's Attempt No.2
I have to agree with Splash. On the previous forum I belonged to, I was a frequent contributor to the model kit "Hall of Shame" so I know a bad kit when I build one (is that right?). I have to say that I still have nightmares from an Amodel Me-109 kit I built. Everything from poor casting to rotten decals were a part of the build. I don't have the street-cred of Splash here to make such comments, but (FWIW) I think you might reconsider doing an Amodel kit in a timed event.splash wrote:I don’t want to jinx you, but my experience of Amodel kits is, they don’t tend to make good blitz kits, due to the quality of their parts fit and the need for filler.
I you do go ahead, I wish you nothing the best of luck and an easy build.

Again agreement on Amodel here. Think mine was the Bf-109 Fisk (longer tailwheel for bigger bomb) . Plastic delaminated as soon as you cut it.

Re: Mav's Attempt No.2
Ok that's a good point and when looking at the kit this morning when it arrived although very tiny and probably the smallest aircraft in my collection there are no locater pins at all so not good blitz fodder at all!
Im going to politely cancel this 2nd attempt and instead Im really going to pish on with the kits that are sat in whats turning into a cupboard of doom!

Sounds a very wise decision. I've not the nerve to try a Blitz but it seems simple, well-fitting is the wa to go.

I have built a couple of Amodel kits, because they make good odd ball subjects.
I hope I haven’t put you off the kit as they can look good when finished.
How about the cobra what’s that like?

Nahh you've not put me off, I may just do the Yak once I've finished everything off the shelf of doom as it looks a really nice little kit, the Cobra looks a great little kit.
Id say they sit half way between the latest releases of A model and Zvezda.
I must admit Zvezda are my favourite kits, nothing beats them personally on quality, aircraft choice and presentation.
