Finally got the Buckeye finished. Images in the aviation thread. Now to crack on with the 109 and a few other part started kits.

The Hellenic Air Force have some really nice colour schemes
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Cheers Shaun, I went mad and splurged out £1.60 for the resin nose. Had to take a pill to calm myself afterwards. If you read the build in this months Airfix Model World mag you would need to throw about £30 in aftermarket goodies to make it accurate.ShaunW wrote:That SHAR is looking good, Shane. I think I've spent enough thanks all the same. The nose really did need swapping though, I think I'll use the gun pods from one of my GR1s rather than replace with resin.

Once you chuck all that cash at it, you still have to do a load of hacking and remodelling and in my case, would run the real risk of a total blast up and binning... It was an interesting article to read, as they utilised a number of resin parts which due to the fine-ness and brittle-ness of resin just broke on them, and had to resort to good old plastic card, wire and modelling moulding clay....
For many and me included, a simple nose job is enough.

It's beyond my skill and comfort zone to hack a kit to death. The nose was a straight drop / push in so no fear there.chrism wrote:Once you chuck all that cash at it, you still have to do a load of hacking and remodelling and in my case, would run the real risk of a total blast up and binning... Also I'm not a fan of throwing most of the kit away and then spending Liberia's national debt on every bit of resin and etch going. A lot of magazine builds are like that now rather than a review of how the kit builds. I did see the actual kit, it was on the Brampton stand it Hudds last weekend. To be honest other than the nose and cockpit I don't think I could have told the difference between stock and A.M parts.
Re: Shane's bench .
Great finish on the Buckeye Shane. I always liked the bulkiness of the Buckeye, and the paint scheme is one of my favorites.

I've got the same nose too for mine. I was just planning on sanding the kit part but I was also buying a few sets of replacement nozzles at so P&P was negated.
