A valiant effort, PW and that is a great looking model ready for finishing. I would also say be careful with masking tape and metallic paints!
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

If the paint had dried quicker you would probably have finished on time. A great effort for your first Blitz.

Did watch the movie The Right Stuff? Good movie to go with this build! Chuck Yeager breaking Mach 1 and the invisible "brick wall" in the Sky!
Funny you should ask! I saw this movie in the theaters years ago and was thinking about it while painting the model. I then recalled I have the 20-year anniversary edition DVD in my movie rack but have never watched it. I did so last night and especially enjoyed the scene of Yeager losing control of the X-1A during a flight. Still a good movie!
Today, during my lunch break, I wondered if Yeager was even still alive so did a Google search. He is still alive and turned 95 a little over a week ago (and he lives less than a 30 minute drive from my house). Unfortunately, he isn't doing well and has had family and legal problems (as well as health issues). A real shame for this old veteran.
Thanks for commenting and asking about the movie.

David, Shaun and Tim: Thank you all for your comments and cautions in regard to my paint question. My imagination sometimes gets the better of me and gets ahead of my skills.
I think I'll leave it alone - for a while at least.

Maybe you bought the kit when you bought your Dvd or it was in the back of your head when you choice this kit. Interesting. Pretty cool he live close!PropWash wrote:Hi Michael,Michael modeller 48 wrote:Hey Propwash,

That looks superb on the base!
Best wishes

I like it; very slick looking on a nice base. Well done!
